This week saw the High School stage the finals of the RnB Factor.
Now in its eighth year, the vocal talent contest for students from Boroughbridge High School, Outwood Academy Ripon and Ripon Grammar School is becoming ever more popular.
The Upper School final was an exceptionally close run contest with Angus Johnston from Ripon Grammar coming out on top with his acoustic version of the A Team by Ed Sheeran. Runners-up were
Alice Scorer from the Grammar School and Alice Holt from Outwood Academy Ripon.
The lower school winner was Billy Tweddle from Ripon Grammar School, performing an outstanding version of Skinny Love by Birdy accompanying herself on guitar. The runners-up were No Direction from Outwood Academy Ripon and Sammy Dale from Ripon Grammar and Denver Maybank from Boroughbridge.
Both upper and lower school finals were very well attended by parents, pupils and staff from all competing schools.
The support and acclaim for all competitors was huge, with the home favourites proving particularly popular. This year the competition was as close as ever with students soaring to new heights of accomplishment.
There were outstanding renditions of a broad spectrum of popular songs ranging from Rhianna to Ed Sheeran, Mumford and Sons to Jason DeRulo and everything in between. This diversity made the job of the judges over the two nights extremely difficult.
The judges praised the contestants for their bravery and congratulated them all on fantastic entertainment.
